Alesha S. Brown

Alesha Brown is the founding and managing partner of Justice In Action Law Center. She practices in the areas of employment discrimination, police misconduct, housing discrimination, future planning and civil litigation. She provides zealous advocacy for her clients and believes in fighting for justice. Alesha is also the Founder and Executive Director of "For The Struggle," a not for profit organization that focuses on fighting for racial and social justice. Alesha is a former Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Commissioner for Central Region 1.

Alesha is a 2012 New York Law School graduate. She is from Charleston, South Carolina and graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Carolina in 2009 as a Political Science major and Business minor. Prior to relocating to Charlotte, Alesha practiced insurance defense at a firm in New York City, and subsequently served as Counsel to the New York City Council's Committees on Civil Rights and Contracts. During her time as Committee Counsel, Alesha played an intricate role in drafting, passing and implementing anti-discrimination legislation, including, but not limited to, New York City's Ban the Box Law, Anti-Credit Discrimination Law, Anti-Discrimination Against Victims of Domestic Violence Law, and the Anti-Caregiver Discrimination Law. Alesha also litigated voting rights cases at the Southern Coalition for Social Justice in Durham, North Carolina. Most recently, Alesha practiced civil litigation and civil rights law at Hall & Dixon, PLLC and Cranfill, Sumner & Hartzog, both locations are based in Charlotte, NC.

When Alesha is not working, she focuses much of her time on fighting and advocating for racial and social justice.
